How did you hear about Mindjet? I first heard about Mindjet from an article I was reading on Pulse. I was intrigued with the concept of mind mapping, so I decided to download the mobile app.

What do you primarily use it for? I mainly use it for idea generation and organization. I work on various types of projects such as music videos, commercials, and short films, so Mindjet helps me keep all my thoughts coherent and brainstorm while on the go. For example, when coming up with ideas, usually I’d have to be at my computer or at a desk somewhere. But with Mindjet, I was able to work on a music video treatment while eating lunch with a friend or waiting in line at a store. The latest treatment I worked on was sort of complex with lots of different details, so I needed a place that I could reference quickly, because ideas don’t always pop up when you want them to. As soon as an idea popped in my head, I was able to map it out. It was nice being able to have an idea saved and have the ability to build on it later, from anywhere. Ideas are sometimes lost when you have nowhere to store them.

What is your favorite feature and why? I love the thought bubbles and the ability to connect them. It helps me realize relationships that I wouldn’t have known existed otherwise. I like to color code my thought bubbles, so for example: characters would be blue, characteristics would be red, detail shots would be orange. After connecting and color coding them, I realized that two of my characters had similar traits. The similarities were something that I had tossed around in my head, but seeing it laid out like that made it so much more digestible. This was one of the very first times I had used Mindjet and I quickly had my whole team download the app so we’d all have the ability to communicate our ideas clearly.

Is there anything Mindjet helps with that was unexpected? The whole app helps me communicate my thoughts to my team more effectively and efficiently. Everything gets boiled down to the bare essentials which provides us with a strong foundation for each project.
