The Productivity Secrets from the Unstoppable Author Michael Scott
I recently met Michael Scott, the New York Times best-selling author of the Enchantress, the sixth and final book in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel series. As the social Gods would have it he’s active on Twitter and a series of tweets led to Michael visiting Mindjet while he was in town.
One of the great things about Michael is he’s got a fertile imagination. His stories include an amazing array of characters including Joan of Arc, William Shakespeare, Prometheus, Niccolo Machiavelli and, of course, Nicholas Flamel. His mind is also prolific. He’s written over 100 books since 1983 – to break it down that’s over three books a year. Not surprisingly, he’s also a bit of a history and mythology geek.
What you might not know about Michael Scott is that he once headed up the drama department at Tyrone Productions, the creators of Riverdance, and writes romance novels under the pseudonym of Anna Dillon – his wife’s given name. Plus, he’s a huge Mindjet fan. (For five reasons to love Michael Scott read Chelsi Nakano’s previous post.)
While he was here, I sat down with him to talk about his passion for history, his love of storytelling, his exhaustive writing process, the secrets to his amazing productivity and how keeps everything straight and on track. Here’s a short peek into our conversation:
