It’s been a big couple of weeks at Mindjet with lots of activity and press coverage about Mindjet Connect, our new free cloud-based service that provides a better way for people to collaborate on the actual work that needs to get done; and MindManager 2012, the most powerful release of the desktop product that set the standard for information mapping products.

Today, both products are available to the public. Enjoy!

With our new products we’ve raised the bar on how teams collaborate and how people visualize and manage information, but don’t take our word for it. There’s been a lot press since we announced last week. Take their word for it.

They forgot to mention that they totally dropped integration support for Office 2010 64 bit.
Also, many of the new features are just a repack of  add-ins from their partners which were available for v. 9.

Jarlath, sorry it’s not up to your expectations.  I’m not a technologist but I do know that we are continuously making improvements through our Agile development process.  I’ll pass on your comment to the dev team.

Could you please explain more about what the relationship between Catalyst and Connect is? What will happen to Catalyst, Catalyst users and content on Catalyst?

      Lachlan, here’s some more details:

Catalyst is an extension of MindManager desktop capabilities; Mindjet Connect integrates everything via the cloud so that users can share maps and related information with anyone they chose.

Catalyst operates with MindManager 9 but does not integrate with MindManager 2012.  If you are a MindManager v9 for Windows user and wish to use your MindManager software with Mindjet Connect, you will need to upgrade to MindManager 2012 for Windows and migrate to Mindjet Connect. We continue to support Catalyst, and there will be no disruption in service or changes made to our customer’s accounts unless they request them.  Later this year we will offer our Catalyst customers assistance in transitioning to Mindjet Connect.

Finally, you can try Mindjet Connect at no charge and without affecting your Catalyst account.  Simply sign up for Mindjet Connect (free edition) at http://www.mindjet.com.

All I can say is that the Technical Editors of the above publications must have been using a different version to that which has been released….so far I have experienced nothing but crashes and unstable behaviour in both the web version of Connect and the 2012 Desktop Integration.

The Desktop seems worse although both appear to be unusable in the current state. Hopefully this is due to overload on the servers due to unprecedented interest….I will reserve judgement for a few days…although I am disappointed as the web based version looks to have a good feature range for a free version and would provide a much needed alternative to the inadequate PDF player version.

Thanks MapNinja. Like many new babies, the first hours of Mindjet’s new website and our Mindjet Connect free product were exciting, to say the least. Demand exceeded our ability to meet it and so our systems were up and down a bit for the first few hours. But everything appears good now. Our engineers are already working to rapidly enhance Mindjet Connect in the weeks ahead – hang on for a wild ride!

    Hi team,
Awesome news but I noticed no such update is available for OSX, any news on when it will come?
    Cheers

Yes, they can run side by side.  Catalyst will integrate with MM9.  Mindjet Connect integrates with MM2012.

is the Marker Index used same way as Power Markers? or different in what ways?

Can I still use Active legend to update maekers at the side panel?

Marker Index is similar to Power Markers, but instead of having to manually update markers the index is automatically updated as you add new markers to the map.

Tomas, if you have an active MSA agreement with Mindjet then you should have recieved an email with your new MM 2012 license key and a link to the electronic download of MM 2012.

When I click “Try out MM 2010″ link, MM 9 downloads instead. And there is no MM 2010 in the store.

Please try again, you should be able to both download a trial of MM 2012 and purchase Mm 2012 on our web site.
