Excited users of our new iPhone app, Mindjet for iPhone, have contacted me on our blog and through social media (e.g. @Mindjet or @MichaelDeutch on Twitter), to get clarification on how to transfer files between your mobile device and MindManager on your desktop/laptop computers.
The instructions can be found below or in our FAQ post. This transfer process works for both the PC and Mac…
How to Send an Mindjet for iPhone/iPod Touch Map to your PC or Mac:
- Ensure that both your iPhone/iPod touch and laptop/desktop have Wi-Fi switched on and are both connected to the same network.
- Launch Mindjet on your iPhone or iPod Touch and select the ‘Transfer’ button at the bottom left of the main screen.
- While the transfer window is still displayed on your iPhone/iPod touch, launch your computer’s web browser and enter the exact URL displayed at the top of the iPhone/iPod screen into computer’s browser address field (e.g. it looks like: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:nnnnn).
- Select from the list of your iPhone/iPod’s maps are displayed.
- Right click on the desired map’s MindManager link and select ‘save as’.
- After downloading the map, it will have a “.xml” tag at the end of it, delete this tag so that the file name is just “____.xmmap”
- Open your map with MindManager.
Productivity Tip: Simplify this process by using ‘Bonjour‘. Bonjour lets you automatically connect your mobile device with your desktop, eliminating the need to type URL’s each time you want to connect and exchange data between your computer and your mobile device. Mac users must activate Bonjour and Window’s users can download Bonjour for free from Apple’s site.
