Customer Hits a Home Run with Contest Winning Cubs Map

Mindjet wants to congratulate MindManager customer, Phil Guth, for winning our “Mindjet Wants to Take you out to the Ballgame” contest in May!

To satisfy the baseball fan in you, and inspire you to create your own MindManager baseball map, you’ll find Phil’s Chicago Cubs fan map available for download within this post.

Chicago Cub Baseball Map

Everyone has some powerful memories about their favorite baseball team and how they became a fan, so we’ll start by sharing Phil’s with you:

Phil was born into a "Cubs fan" family, but his devotion increased when, as a senior in high school, he was able to procure two tickets to the Cubs game on April 16, 1985. There was just one problem: April 16th was a school day. The solution? Inviting Dad to the game, with the hope that he could work his "responsible adult and parent" magic with the attendance office at Freeport High School. Good old dad ended up coming through for Phil who experienced a "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" kind of escapade. At the gate on Waveland avenue, Phil and his Dad were met by Yosh Kiwano, long time Cubs Clubhouse Manager. Yosh even asked if Phil would be interested in serving as the team "bat boy" for the day.

The Cubs ended up beating the Phillies, 1 to 0, in the first extra inning game of the year. The winning pitcher was future hall of fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley. Phil also notes that his Dad passed away a little over a year ago and that he is very thankful that he has this very fond memory of "time with Dad."

Mindjet attributes this posting both Phil and his dad and thanks Phil for sharing his story. We hope he enjoys his gift card, on us!

Customer Story: Using MindManager for Career Development

We wanted to share a map from engineering manager, Trent Jordan, who uses MindManager to advance his career through continuing education. This specific map features content from a virtual course through the University Channel Podcast on the “Psychology of Influence” that Trent attended. “I find (using) MindManager is a good way to capture and remember new information. In my role as a manager, I attempt to influence people everyday so it’s a highly relevant topic.” Trent’s map is a great demonstration of how one can take disparate pieces of complex data and turn it into information that is visually manageable, easier to comprehend, and valuable to their field of work.

The Secret Impact of Social Norms map

Trent discovered mind mapping about 15 years ago and says mind mapping helped him get through his last year in college. Not too long after that, he transitioned to using MindManager within his profession. “I’ve been using it ever since, to help me organize my thoughts and projects at work, and also to record interesting things I come across – like the Cialdini Podcast,” he says. “Mapping this podcast had been on my list of things to do for a while, so testing MindManager 7 was a good opportunity to do it.  I was pretty impressed with the new interface, and I think it will make mapping a lot easier.”
