Visual Mapping Therapy for Coping with Bereavement

In wake of the tragic events at Virginia Tech University earlier this week, MindManager customer and blogger, Juan Makabayan, mapped out some coping strategies for dealing with anxiety and bereavement that I discovered on his blog. Visit this  link, if you’d like to see the map in more detail.

Juan says he’s a big believer in writing regularly in a blog or journal to help cope with feelings of loss and grief. He also says visual thinking and mapping tools have also served this purpose for him.

“It clarifies complex ideas by making associations to different concepts. It relieves the mind from over thinking via conventional or verbose ways. In fact, it  also frees us to process information in a different way. I believe that it helps clarify thinking towards a more rational framework,” he says.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected by the VT tragedy.

Thanks to all who entered Mindjet’s 2007 NCAA Championship Bracket Contest

March Madness 2007 is now over and college basketball goes into hibernation until next November. We know the two-time defending champs will lose their starters, but will retain their coach. The current wait is now on the Ohio State starters, who have yet to make a decision. Overall, the tournament brought some more excitement due to the level of talent at the top. Florida showed its dominance in their final two games, which left all doubters behind. They proved that they deserved to be the champs starting from tip-off.

Mindjet would like to say thank you to all who entered our March Madness 2007 brackets mapping contest. Unfortunately, no one got their picks 100% correct, but since everyone’s a winner at Mindjet – we’re hooking up the two who came closest with free MindManager licenses!

Congratulations to Frank Alvidrez and Alberto Reyes!

Frank is a power user of MindManager  and uses it extensively in his everyday life as well as in his "Enterprise Architecture" course that he teaches.
Alberto just downloaded a 21-day trial of MindManager to enter the March Madness contest, although he’s previously read the works on mind mapping by Tony Buzan. Alberto owns a construction company and has since begun using MindManager in meetings and as a tool for planning building processes. "I’m fast becoming a fan of MindManager because of its simple user interface and I hope to soon become even more proficient," he says.

Mindjet hopes you enjoyed both the tournament and our special bracket. We look forward to seeing you all next year for Mindjet’s 2008 March Madness map contest. To continue in the spirit of friendly sports competition, enter our “Mindjet wants to take you out to the ballgame” contest here. Deadline for entries is May 9th!

Build Your Resume With MindManager

Earlier this week I came across a Mindjet customer, Steven Rothwell, who used MindManager to build his resume. "Many people will know the benefit of tailoring their resume or CV to meet specific roles, but traditional CVs are limited by their linear nature," he explained. "I wanted to create a visual CV that helped the reader understand the key themes in my career. Inspired by an example in Mindjet Labs, I created a visual CV with the specific goal of emphasizing my experience and skills as a facilitator."

Download Steven’s Visual Resume Map Now and begin using MindManager to create your own visual resume.

Besides resume building, Steven relies on MindManager as a personal planning and mapping tool that he increasingly utilizes in group workshops. MindManager also facilitates his brainstorming sessions and presentations. "Throughout my career as a business analyst and transition manager," he says, "I have used facilitation and workshop skills to define solutions, resolve problems and to develop plans.  Being able to capture and develop ideas visually brings many benefits and new insights."
