Mindjet in Japan
I’m in Tokyo right now, and it feels good to see first-hand that mind-mapping is on the rise in Japan. Several related books have been published recently, as well as magazine articles and blogs (i.e. mindmap.jp) that discuss the value of mind-mapping for enhancing productivity, a topic that is an evergreen in Japan.
We’re here in this capital of density to meet with our Japanese partners and to work on the upcoming launch of the localized Japanese version of MindManager (the recruiting for the beta program has started). Mindjet has been working with Japanese resellers to market the English version of MindManager in Japan since 2002 (including past releases MindManager 4.0, MindManager 2002, and MindManager X5) — these resellers are Neoteny Venture Development Company (NVD), Plus by Plus Co. Ltd., and Japan Useware Corporation. Our Japanese customers include Sony Corporation, Toshiba, Canyon, NEC, and Panasonic as well as the Tokyo International University.

In the middle of the night, still jetlagged, I am overseeing the vibrant Roppongi neighborhood from my hotel room on the 19th floor, and a line from F. Scott Fitzgerald comes to my mind: “The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposite ideas in the mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.” He could have written that about Japanese culture – and MindManager.
