MindMapper to MindManager

A customer came to us with a request: "I have been using MindMapper and now I want to use MindManager."  He asked, "How can I convert my mindmaps from MindMapper to MindManager?"

Because MindMapper has a Save as XML feature (don’t all applications have one today?) and MindManager has the ability import any arbitrary XML data with an XSL transformation, this could be implemented fairly easily by an enterprising programmer who wants to be featured on the Mindjet Labs site.

If you are interested in trying this out as a programming task, we will feature you and your work on the Mindjet Labs site and send you some cool Mindjet stuff.

MindManager and Web 2.0

A couple of nights ago a bunch of us from Mindjet attended the MIT-Stanford Venture Lab event: The Next Wave of Web 2.0: Is AJAX Where the Action is? The event featured a presentation from Scott Dietzen, CTO of Zimbra, and a panel with representatives from VA Software, Intel Capital and Microsoft. Our host was Om Malik from Business 2.0.

Part of the reason we attended the event was to talk with people about how MindManager can be a valuable platform for visualizing and managing data residing in web-based applications.  Additional information about how to do this can be found in the Labs and a great example of how this can work is the Research Accelerator.

Mapping Dan Pink

Marc Orchant, a longtime blogger on office productivity and tablet PCs, is now a blogger for ZDNet. His blog today looks at a recent post on Steve Richard’s Adventures in Home Working. Steve has done a nice job of using MindManager to map out Dan Pink’s wonderful book, "A Whole New Mind." (Dan Pink himself has posted a link to the map on his web site.)

Of particular note is Dan’s suggestion that the four key skills needed to succeed in the world of the future are Symphony, Story, Design and Meaning. I think if you either read the book or glance at the Steve’s maps, you will see how using MindManager helps build these skills.

Project Mgmt. “Front End” for MindManager

Chuck Frey at InnovationTools has blogged today about a tool for MindManager called "Visual Projects Map Pro:

"A recent topic of discussion in the Yahoo MindManager group has been a tool for MindManager called Visual Project Maps Pro. It acts like a "front end" for this popular mind mapping software program, by providing a dialog box where you can define the key parameters of your project."
