Mindjet Gets a New Face

New corporate identity and web site – coming soon….

Mindjet has strongly evolved over the last year and will continue to change - now even more visibly.  In a few weeks from today, Mindjet will look different - from the company logo to our web site. Both projects - corporate identity and web relaunch - began in January of this year after we realized that the status quo would not sufficiently convey the key characteristics of our growing product and services portfolio in the near future. In numerous discussions and workshops across departments in our offices in the US and in Europe as well as with our users and partners, we have crafted what we think is an exciting new expression of Mindjet’s distinct personality and vision.

It made sense to synchronize the two projects and to have one team develop them as a single undertaking. We worked with the highly acclaimed design firm Cahan & Associates in San Francisco who took us on a mind-boggling journey through the “soul of Mindjet.” Cahan also provided us with the design template for our new web site. The concept and implementation of this project however were done inhouse by our corporate communications team. Both projects, by the way, used MindManager maps throughout all stages – from the first brainstorming sessions, research (usability tests, user surveys, web analytics, benchmark studies), web site architecture and navigation (yep, maps can be used as site maps!), content management to the creation of back-end databases – MindManager maps were the backbone of this venture (ok, ok, we also sent a few e-mails….). When the site is live, we will share more details about how to use MindManager for managing a mega-project like this.

As I write this, there’s still a lot of work to be done, but we are confident that you will like both the new look and feel and the new website (aside from the fresh design there will be a number of new and improved features).  But that’s enough tooting our own horn. It’s like with MindManager: You have to take a look – and we can’t wait to see what you think.

Often companies fail to share their greatest assets with their customers. IBM had a great emailing system for years (PROFS), long before email was a commercial product. It would be great if you could share templates from your branding-process with us — your users. I am sure Mindjets own employees are the experts, and it would be great to learn from the maps you used throughout the process you describe in your post.

I have known for the past 2 years that I should use mindmapping, but somehow could not get into it until MindManager came along. Congratulations on the new release. I take it that keeping the features under wraps is part of the marketing strategy to generate some excitement?

A quick question: is it on the roadmap to allow multiple instances of MM (as with e.g. Word and Excel) to facilitate switching between maps?

    Best wishes

    Carl,

Thanks for sharing the IBM story with us - very interesting. May MindManager maps become as ubiquitious as e-mail one day! And you’re right, we should be the experts and will make the templates we used in the branding process available in our Online Map Library - either with the launch of the new identity/web site or shortly after.

I am looking forward to the new design and I hope you will offer more RSS-feeds too, e.g. the knowledge base so that I can see all new entries.
